CS2 Smoke Lineups for Every Map - Complete Guide (2025)

By OnlyCSGO TeamMarch 10, 202515 min read

Why Smokes Are the Most Important Utility

Smoke grenades are the backbone of tactical CS2 play. A well-placed smoke can block enemy vision for 18 seconds, allowing your team to cross open areas, execute bomb sites, or retake positions safely. Unlike flashbangs or HE grenades, smokes provide guaranteed value every single round.

Professional teams spend hours practicing smoke lineups. If you want to rank up, mastering even 5-6 essential smokes per map will put you ahead of most players.

General Smoke Tips

Throw Types

  • Left Click: Full throw — maximum distance
  • Right Click: Short throw — drops at your feet
  • Left + Right Click: Medium throw — half distance
  • Jump Throw: Maximum distance with upward trajectory (use a bind for consistency)
  • Jump Throw Bind

Most competitive smokes require a jump throw bind for consistency:

    `alias "+jumpthrow" "+jump;-attack"; alias "-jumpthrow" "-jump"; bind "v" "+jumpthrow"`

    Practice Setup

    To practice smokes offline:

  • Open console and type: `map de_dust2` (or any map)
  • Enter these commands:
  • `sv_cheats 1`
  • `sv_grenade_trajectory 1`
  • `sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10`
  • `sv_infinite_ammo 1`
  • `mp_roundtime_defuse 60`
  • `mp_warmup_end`

  • Pro Tips for Better Smoke Usage

  • Always smoke before pushing — Never dry peek a site. Use smokes first
  • Coordinate with teammates — Multiple smokes at the same time isolates the site
  • Don't throw smokes too early — They last 18 seconds. Time them with your execute
  • One-way smokes — Learn 2-3 one-way smokes per map. They give you a huge advantage
  • Smoke fakes — Throw smokes at one site to fake, then execute at the other
  • Re-smoke — If your first smoke fades and you haven't taken the site, throw another
  • OT
