Dust 2 Smoke Lineups - Essential Smokes for CS2 (2025)

Why Smoke Lineups Matter on Dust 2

Dust 2 is one of the most aim-dependent maps in CS2, but smart smoke usage can give you a massive advantage. A well-placed smoke blocks enemy vision, allows safe rotations, and enables site executions without taking fights.

Every CS2 player should know at least 5-6 essential Dust 2 smokes. These lineups work in both matchmaking and competitive play.

T-Side Smoke Lineups

1. Cross Smoke (T Spawn to CT Mid)

Purpose: Allows your team to cross from T Spawn to Lower Tunnels or B without getting picked by an AWPer watching mid doors.

How to throw:

  • Stand at the back of T Spawn, aligned with the left wall
  • Look up at approximately 60 degrees
  • Aim at the small antenna on the building
  • Jump + throw (press both jump and throw at the same time)
  • When to use: At the start of every round if you plan to go B or need to cross mid safely. This is the single most important smoke on Dust 2.

    2. A Long Corner Smoke

Purpose: Smokes off the corner at Long A, blocking the CT AWPer watching from A site or pit.

    How to throw:

  • Stand at Long Doors (the double doors entrance)
  • Press against the left wall
  • Aim at the top of the blue container
  • Running throw (run forward and throw)
  • When to use: Before peeking Long A. Throw this, then push out to challenge the Long player.

    3. A Site CT Smoke

Purpose: Blocks the CT player watching A from CT Spawn, allowing you to plant the bomb safely.

    How to throw:

  • Stand at the corner of A Long, near the car
  • Aim at the top of the building above CT Spawn
  • Find the small dark spot on the wall
  • Left-click throw
  • When to use: During an A execute. Combined with the A Short smoke, this isolates the site.

    4. A Short from Catwalk

Purpose: Blocks short/catwalk view so CTs can't peek from short during your A execute.

    How to throw:

  • Stand at the top of Catwalk stairs
  • Face A site
  • Aim at the edge of the archway
  • Left-click throw
  • When to use: During an A execute, especially when combined with the CT smoke.

    5. B Window Smoke

Purpose: Blocks the window overlooking B site, preventing CTs from throwing utility or getting kills through the window.

    How to throw:

  • Stand in B Tunnel, against the right wall
  • Look up at the window
  • Aim at the top-right corner of the window frame
  • Left-click throw
  • When to use: Every B execute. This is mandatory before entering B site.

    6. B Door Smoke from Tunnel

Purpose: Smokes the B doors, blocking CTs watching from behind the doors or rotating through CT spawn.

    How to throw:

  • Stand in upper B Tunnel
  • Look at the doors at the back of B site
  • Aim at the middle of the wall above the doors
  • Left-click throw
  • When to use: B execute to block the rotation from CT mid/spawn.

    CT-Side Smoke Lineups

    7. Mid Doors Smoke (from CT Spawn)

Purpose: Blocks the T-side AWPer watching mid doors from T Spawn.

    How to throw:

  • Stand in CT Spawn, near the barrel
  • Look toward mid doors
  • Aim at the top of the left door frame
  • Left-click throw
  • When to use: Start of every round if you don't want to fight for mid control. Gives your mid player time to set up.

    8. Long Retake Smoke

Purpose: When retaking A site, this smoke blocks Long A vision so you don't get shot from behind.

    How to throw:

  • From CT Spawn, move toward A site
  • Aim at the wall above Long Doors
  • Left-click throw while running
  • When to use: During A retakes when Ts might be watching from Long.

    Smoke Execute Combos

    Full A Execute (T-side)

    Throw these smokes in order:

  • Cross Smoke (mid doors) — Safety
  • A Long Corner Smoke — Clear long
  • A Short Smoke — Block catwalk
  • CT Smoke — Isolate the site
  • Then flash and push together
  • Full B Execute (T-side)

  • Cross Smoke (mid doors) — Stop mid AWP
  • B Window Smoke — Block window
  • B Door Smoke — Block rotation
  • Then molotov the back corner, flash, and push
  • Tips for Consistent Smoke Throws

  • Use 128 tick for practice — Add `-tickrate 128` to your launch options
  • sv_grenade_trajectory 1 — Shows grenade paths in practice mode
  • Practice the lineup 10 times before using it in a real match
  • Jump throws require a bind — Create a jump-throw bind for consistent results:
  • `alias "+jumpthrow" "+jump;-attack"; alias "-jumpthrow" "-jump"; bind "v" "+jumpthrow"`

  • Weather and angles change — Some lineups may need slight adjustments after CS2 updates
